Oh No! Was That Opened? Labels That Can Tell You:Instantly!

Ever wonder if there was a way to detect if your property or package has been entered? Well wonder no more! Tamper evident seals & labels are the answer.

Tamper evident tape & labels are ideal security tags that have a security feature that detects tampering by either revealing  the word ‘OPENED’, a ‘red flag’ or the word  ‘VOID’.

  • Indicate & deter tampering
  • Prevent false information
  • Authenticate shipments & inventory

Tamper-evident tape is great for large openings, shipping containers or boxes that you want covered and affixes along the entire opening. Once affixed, the adhesive back PVC tape cannot be removed without evidence of intrusion. Tape applies easily with your standard tape dispenser (no need to moisten). When removed the word ‘OPENED’ appears on both tape and tape surface and cannot be reapplied. Tamper-evident tape adds security to any shipment.

Entry indicator labels immediately notify of unauthorized access. Used to detect tampering or identify cabinets that need inventory adjustments. Place label over the edge of a drawer, container or cabinet. If someone enters, the label tears at the perforation and reveals a ‘red flag’.

Void labels detect tampering by indicating the word ‘VOID’ if the label is altered or removed. Void labels provide added security for boxes, folders, file cabinets, lockers and more!

Adhesive security seals secure and track with one convenient label. Residue seals leave behind a sticky residue that reads “VOID/OPEN’ to indicate tampering. Ideal for container bins, drum lids, cargo shipping, equipment/inventory control and tagging. Aggressive adhesive sticks to most surfaces for a tight grip.

Never wonder again if there has been an unauthorized breach of your property. Rely on Emedco for tamper evident tape & labels that will at-a-glance tell if your security has been compromised.

Can’t Afford a Surveillance System? Use Simulated Instead – Just as effective!

Need to deter theft at your business but you’re strapped for cash? No problem – There are things you can do that will fit into your budget and is far better than nothing at all until you have the funds to install an actual working surveillance system or maybe you won’t have to.

Security on the cheap!

  • Post surveillance signs around your facility grounds. Signs such as “Notice all activities monitored by video camera” or “No trespassing Monitored by video camera”.
  • Install fake security cameras in strategic areas in and around your facility. For part of the cost of a real surveillance camera you can buy many simulated cameras that actually move and have a red light that looks so real.
  • Make sure that you keep this information confidential because you would not want it to get out to the criminal world that you have a fake security system that could result in loss.

No criminal who doesn’t want to get caught would dare committing any crime on your property. With proper signage & simulated security cameras it will look to anyone who doesn’t know better that your business is protected. And you accomplished it all at the fraction of the cost of a real surveillance system.

Rely on products from Emedco when the safety & security of your business is in question.

New Gun-at-Work Law-what you need to know to protect your business!

Many states have recently adopted this new guns-at-work law that prevents employers from banning weapons in their parking lots by allowing workers to keep guns locked in their car. Some states include Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Indiana, Tennessee, Oklahoma and Arizona. The employee must legally own the gun and have it registered properly obeying all Federal & State gun laws to fall under this new law.

So as a business owner – what can you do to protect your workplace? You can try and  keep guns & weapons  out of your building.

Below are some suggestions on how to keep your facility safe from any gun related situation.

  • Post Signage Signs that state your policies on guns or weapons such as “No Firearms allowed on this property” and “No Concealed Weapons Allowed on this Property” clearly communicate security practices at your facility. Signs are great deterrents and also make sure those employees & visitors know not to bring a weapon in the building.
  • Implement Metal Detectors Have a guard or front desk person wand any visitors or employees to make sure that they are not concealing a gun or weapon. Also make sure that you post Metal Detector signs in and around the area to let everyone know that metal detectors are on the premises and may be used.
  • Enforce Strict Policies Create a “zero tolerance” policy and have a forum to discuss your policy, consequences of breaking that policy and ways to report a suspected violation.
  • Educate & Remind Employees Use custom banners, wall charts and signs to make visible your company’s policy on bringing guns or weapons into the building. Put them up in common areas such as cafeterias & near the time clock to ensure the most attention.
  • Conduct facility searches Based on your company policy you might want to search lockers or company property if you have adequate suspicion that a policy may be being violated. Make sure that you include the proper signage such as “Lockers Subject to Search” and “Lockers are Company Property” in and around employee common areas & locker rooms.
  • Resolution techniques Implement quick & effective resolutions for disputes & discrepancies. Once management has been made aware of a situation make sure that you act in a timely manner to hopefully extinguish any potential problems.
  • Keep communication open Instruct managers to be mindful of the demeanor of their reports and to act immediately if someone seems “off” or “not like themselves”. Keep lines of communication open between employees and each other and employees and management. Make it easy for employees to talk to their manager about things that might be bothering them. Consider professional counseling without retribution for serious situations. Stop potential violent acts before they happen.

Devise and follow a plan of action to protect your business from this new gun law. With the proper processes in place you can easily safeguard your people & property. Rely on emedco for all the above mentioned solutions and many more!

Property ID Labels Stop Thieves!

Professional thieves are interested in the re-sale value of property ONLY and anything that is labeled with a property id label is considered “branded”. Thieves will avoid taking anything that has a tracking label on it because it will not be accepted at pawn shops or even on the streets – it’s ‘hot’ or ‘stolen’ and is rendered useless.

High tech property id labels in the industry today are monitored and have police traceability which deters anyone from being caught with the property for fear of criminal charges. Thieves don’t know the difference they see a tracking id label and they’ll think twice about taking that item – the consequence of either not being able to re-sell it or getting caught by the police with it just isn’t worth it.

Some states have a registration program for assets. Oregon has a registration program that states that if an item is stolen, the serial number is known and the item is marked with a property id label with your drivers license, the item can be entered in state/national Law Enforcement computer system and can be identified anywhere in the US. Not only is that ideal for the owner to be able to retrieve a lost or stolen item but it also is a big red flag for the thief telling them ‘do not take’ this item is marked!

For businesses property id labels are the smart economical choice. This little label packs a whole lot of security! Not only do they deter theft and help retrieve lost property but they also are used to control inventory and track tools, files or anything that might be shared among employees.

Property id labels come in many sizes and styles to choose from so it’s easy to find exactly the label you need. For extra protection use custom property id labels and add your own wording, company information or logo.

Property id labels can be applied to office equipment, computers, inventory, laptops, furniture, bikes and more. Rely on property id labels to identify, track and safeguard your valuables.

Parking Permits – Ideal for Regulating Parking lot Flow!

How do you control and maintain a demanding need for parking in a limited amount of parking space? Well parking permits – of course. Parking permits are used primarily for keeping out of your parking areas unwanted or unauthorized vehicles. So why not take them to the ‘next level’ and regulate the flow of authorized vehicles in your lot(s).

Take a hospital employee or college faculty/student parking lot. You can actually have your lots regulated down to the hour on who is authorized to be parking there and who is not.

This example taken from Ithaca College states:

“Anyone with College business who regularly parks a vehicle in College lots must display a parking permit. Individuals who exceed three parking violations in any school year will have their vehicles towed, at the owners’ expense, for each parking violation thereafter.”

Permits are divided out as follows:

  • Blue permits allow parking in the assigned blue areas.
  • Red permits allow parking in the assigned red areas.
  • Green permits allow parking only in the assigned green areas.

They go even further to have time limitations and exemptions using the parking permit’s color:

Evening Parking — A vehicle displaying a red permit may be parked in:

  • The blue section of J lot between 9:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m., Monday-Friday, and all day Saturday and Sunday. Note: Be aware of special parking restrictions for the Whalen Center in the lower blue section of J lot
  • All other blue lots between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m., Monday-Friday, and all day Saturday and Sunday.

Parking permits enable you to regulate and secure your parking lot(s) – making them accessible when needed and keeping them safe from crime.

What is a bar code?

According to dictionary.com the term bar-code is:

–noun a series of lines of varying width, printed, as on a container or product, that can be read by an optical scanner to determine charges for purchases, destinations for letters, etc. The key to this code is the variation in line thickness and separation.

Bar codes are ideal for property identification tags & labels because the tags can easily be scanned using a bar-code scanner from there the information can be loaded and maintained by data management software program.

Bar codes allow you to easily:

  • Control Inventory
  • Check In/Check Out tools, files or anything that is shared among employees.
  • Track physical assets such as computers, equipment, furniture, etc.

The two most popular symbology codes are Code 39 and Code 128.

Code 39, sometimes referred to as 3 of 9, is the most popular symbology used. This encodes 44 different alphabetic, numeric and graphic characters.

The second most popular symbology is Code 128, which is a high density, alphanumeric barcode symbology commonly used in retail and shipping

Theft prevention – is easier than you think!

Keeping your business & company property safe against theft and vandalism is just that easy. According to the Federal Bureau of Investigations every 3.2 seconds a property crime occurs.  Fortunately  there are some things you can do to improve security, deter crime, reduce potential liability and make your employees feel safer.

Protect your business, avoid loss and increase security by following these safety tips.

Lock your doors

Most criminals enter business through unlocked or unsupervised doors. Locks are effective in preventing access to valuables or entry into your facility. Keep thieves from penetrating entry points by locking doors securely and having supervision either from a guard or a CCTV camera.

Use door alarms

Deter criminals from illegal entry or exit of doors in your facility. Door alarms sound immediate warnings if unauthorized entry or exit is attempted. Big bold messaging across the alarm will aid in keeping criminals from trying to open those doors that have alarms attached.

Secure valuables

Safely store anything of value such as office supplies, laptops and technology in security cabinets and lockers.

Take good care of your keys

Key cabinets and drop boxes are ideal in keeping track of your keys and safeguarding them from being lost or stolen.

Post proper signage

Reinforce your company’s security policies with security and property signs. Messages such as “Notice authorized personnel only beyond this point”, “Private property violators will be prosecuted” & “Notice all activities monitored by video camera” will deter criminals from entering areas you don’t want them to. Signs are an ideal way to communicate security practices in and around your facility grounds.
